Here we go?

So it’s 2021 and I, like you, am hoping it will be a much better year than 2020. I do know I’m in for at least one BIG change – as many of you know I will be retiring at the end of this month. January 29th will be my last day of work. My husband is afraid. Very afraid. Afraid that I will be bored, wandering the hallways of our house and mainly getting in his way.

So what will I do to keep myself busy? Well, starting this blog is one thing. I also plan to get out and explore all of the things that the gay and grey set do with our lives post-retirement. Travel? Of course, you all know us well enough to know we’ll be out seeing the world and I will be posting way to many travel photos. Garden? As much as our small suburban plot will allow, and while I don’t know that I’ll blog much about that I might throw in a handy tip or two if I learn anything along the way. Read and Learn? Yes, I plan to read a lot so you can look forward to periodic book reviews and recommendations here. I also signed up for online learning with The Great Courses Plus so I’ll let you know how worthwhile I find that product. Volunteer? It’s in my list of 2021 goals to volunteer more, as well as be more politically active, perhaps volunteering for an organization such as Powered by People.

Here’s to all the places I’ll go and things that I’ll see in my new retired life!

Sounds awesome Ross. Congratulations on your retirement. I’m so happy that you are beginning this wonderful chapter of your life. You’ve earned it. It will be 12 years since I retired on January 28, 2009. I’m so grateful that I prepared and I’m so happy to be retired. Best wishes to you my friend. I hope to see you. ❤️

Congratulations on the retirement, Ross!! I clearly remember stopping by your office in Home Office and having our daily chats – that is what I miss the most about retirement – the people! It has been 5 years for me and it went way too fast – was volunteering quite a bit, but that came to an end with COVID..We also got a dog after I retired and he has kept me busy and forces me out for walks every day! Stay well and keep posting those adventures! Best, Rose

Thank Rose! It’s so great to hear from you and I’m glad to hear things are well! I miss our chats as well!
